Deployed Supporting Tools

MongoDB

MongoDB is deployed to the Kubernetes cluster using a Helm chart. This chart is located in the MongoDB project under the resources subgroup. The MongoDB chart is configured with the values required for deployment, such as the database username and password and the database name used by Conduit. The passwords in the MongoDB chart's values.yaml file are examples only and must not be used in production. In a real environment, Kubernetes Secrets should be used to store passwords securely.

Monitoring

Monitoring for the Kubernetes cluster and its deployed services is provided by two main tools: Prometheus and Grafana. Both tools are deployed to the cluster using Helm charts, enabling straightforward and efficient configuration and deployment management. The monitoring architecture is illustrated below:

Monitoring system

Prometheus

Prometheus is deployed to the Kubernetes cluster using a Helm chart. This chart is located in the Prometheus project under the monitoring subgroup. Prometheus monitors the Kubernetes cluster and the services deployed within it, collecting metrics and logs from pods and services.

Grafana

Grafana is deployed to the Kubernetes cluster using a Helm chart. This chart is located in the Grafana project under the resources subgroup. Grafana receives the metrics collected by Prometheus and displays them in dashboards, allowing system administrators to monitor the status of the cluster and its deployed services.
