Deployed Application

RealWorld Project

This project uses the Conduit sample application from RealWorld, an example application implementing a blog and a social network. The application is divided into two parts: the backend and the frontend. The RealWorld project provides a reference application for developing modern web applications with different technologies and frameworks. It includes features such as user authentication, article creation and editing, comments, and following other users. For this project, the React + Redux implementation is used for the frontend, while Node.js + Express with Mongoose is used for the backend. This backend implementation uses MongoDB, which is deployed in both infrastructures (public and private cloud).

Changes to the Original Source Code

No major changes have been made to the original Conduit application code. Some minor adjustments were introduced to adapt it to this project, such as configuring environment variables and integrating the frontend with the backend.

Testing

Unit Tests

It was not necessary to add unit tests to the frontend project because the original code already includes unit tests and meets the 100% coverage requirement. For the backend, unit tests were added to cover the API functionality and ensure that the code works correctly, as the original backend project did not include unit tests. Jest is used as the testing framework in both projects.

End-to-End Tests

End-to-end (E2E) tests were added to the frontend project using Cypress to verify that the application behaves correctly in a real environment. These tests cover the application's main features, such as user registration, login, article creation and editing, and comments. The E2E tests run in the CI/CD pipeline for the pre branch, targeting the application deployed in the preproduction Kubernetes cluster.
